Lancashire v Worcestershire: County Championship Division One – Lancashire’s First Innings

The hosts had set a target of 329 runs for the opposition and managed to defend it easily in the end, as the Worcestershire team was all out for 230 runs in their second innings.

However, a solid stand between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944 gave some momentum to the Lancashire innings. The pair put together 87 runs for the fifth wicket before the latter got out after scoring 29 runs.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gareth-Cross-c1459 gave solid support to Croft, as the pair collected 90 runs for the sixth wicket.
Croft played a spectacular knock of 107 runs with the help of 11 fours and 4 thunderous sixes. He paced his innings really nicely, facing just 111 balls for his impressive century.

Cross also played nicely, ending up with 39 runs off 60 deliveries with the help of six boundaries. He was quickly running out of partners at the other end and failed to cope up with the pressure in the end, giving his wicket away.

Worcestershire would have liked to restrict the opposition to a lesser total, especially after electing to field first at the toss. However, the bowlers still did a decent job in the end.
