Former South African all rounder, Lance Klusener, has been appointed as the new coach for the Sunfoil Dolphins. The appointment was confirmed by KZN Cricket Pvt. Ltd. His coaching stint with the Dolphins had already begun from Monday, July 16, 2012.
The 40-year-old played a total of 49 Tests and 171 ODIs for South Africa. He averaged 42.69 in his first class career and has been a former Dolphin’s player himself. His history with the Dolphins is a driving force behind his appointment and Klusener was excited over the responsibility. He aims to rebuild the team to become the number one franchise in the South African domestic circuit.
Fa-eez Jaffar, the president of the KZNCU and chairman of the KZN Cricket Pvt Ltd, was optimistic about the Dolphin’s chances in future domestic competitions. He believed that Klusener, with his wealth of experience, would prove to be invaluable to the players both on and off the field. Jaffar acknowledged that the younger and lesser experienced players could be mentored properly by Klusener who would dawn them with the realities of domestic cricket.
“One of his first tasks would be to reintroduce the culture of winning and playing with passion and pride wearing the Dolphins badge. This has been missing for some time. Players must want to play for the Dolphins. He comes on board knowing what it is like to be part of a successful team. The Dolphins must get back to where they belong.”

Earlier, during a press conference on Friday, Klusener asserted that he wanted the Dolphins to shun away their comfort zones and start winning more consistently.
