What happened to him this year. He was doing so good them all of a sudden he slowly slipped away from top RBI's HRS and AVG. And Do y'all think Astros are still contenders in the national league central or is it just over for them.

  1. What are you talking about?  He's fourth in BA, seventh in RBI and has 24 HR.  The last time a National Leaguer hit for the Triple Crown was 71 years ago.

  2. Are you serious with the 2nd part of your question?? Losing C Lee for the year won't help Berkman's cause and will add more pressure on him.  Let me ask you this...did you think that Chipper Jones was going to hit .400 all season or Josh Hamilton was going to drive in 180 RBI's based on what he was doing in the 1st half of the season?  All hitters go through streaks throughout a 162 game season.  Nothing wrong with Berkman, he just was playing over his head the 1st half of the season.

  3. Lance has had a bit of a letdown in the second half.

He seems to do this everytime he competes in the home run derby.  I'm not kidding, look it up.

The only area he hasn't let up is the batting average.  Last I checked he was still batting .334 and up there on the list.

His power and RBI total has deffinatley slipped a bit.

To the second half of the question.  No.  The Astros are not contenders this year.  Too many players didn't show up this season and now they've lost Carlos Lee for the remainder of the year.

Lance Berkman is a great player.  He's on pace to break all of Jeff Bagwell's Astro records and if continues as is, will be a Hall Of Famer one day.

  5. People have breakdowns i say that because Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are falling apart

    They can't hit or field.

  6. I know what you mean heading towards the all-star break I thought he would finish with 45+ home runs. But he still having a good MVP type season hitting .332, 89 RBIs and 25 HRs. As for the team 63-61 now Lee's and Matsui's injuries may slow then down from their winning pace. I think they can finish say at like 83-79. Unfortunately way short of the NL central and wild card race. All we can hope for is a big off-season. We need pitchers, get Wandy and Backe out, I'm tired of the + 4.00 ERA every season.

  7. He's doing fine.  You didn't expect him to do as well as he did the first half, did you?

As for the Astros being contenders, no.  They're not even close to being close in the race.
