Question:

Lancer Evo 8 Pricing question

My girlfriend is interested in getting an Evo 8 for her next car and I was looking around and found one with 1,900 miles, stored in a heated garage and never saw rain or snow, and he's wanting $27,000 for it. I researched the price on Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book and the value of the car came out to be somewhere between $18,897 - $19,995. What would be a sensible price since I don't wanna pay too much, but I also don't want the guy to think I'm low balling him.

  1. Thats not too bad of a price.  Its just like brand new.  Low miles in all. Most people and auto places always price cars over the KBB.  Just ask for 25,000 because it seems to be priced too high over.  With that much you can buy the MR or GSR Evo 8, and possibly the Evo 9 and those are better than the regular.

  2. Offer him 20-22, it's not worth even that really.  The low miles is nice, but its still an Evo XIII

  3. It seems OK enough, because its low milage and hardly used. So its nearly new car with rarely driven as well. But 27,000 is ok for that but if you want to haggle with him. Then the least is probably 25,000 to get to. There are Evo 9 are around 27,000 with 20,000 milage in my area and they are much better stock performance wise.

  4. Depreciation pwns all! Offer a couple more thousand just because of the low mileage. Do NOT pay over excellent KBB. If it was highly modded he might get a little more.

  5. It is really hard pressed to get an Evo in the KBB price range, specially if the Evo only has 1900 miles on it. I usually see Evos with 20,000+ miles in them go for 23,000 and above. It is mainly driven by the law of supply and demand. A lot more people could not afford a brand new Evo so lots of them go for a used one. The sellers try to take advantage by pricing the car way above KBB to cover for any sort of haggling. And the thing is, people still buy them so $27,000 for Evo with 1,900 miles is actually sounding alright...for some people.
