This summer we have a flight from BUF to MCO via DCA (US Air). We have a flight landing in DCA at 6:46PM and have to connect to another flight before 7:20. Is this enough time to catch the next flight? When we flew through Philidelphia they held the connecting fight for us because it was the last one out. Do you think they will do the same at DCA? (Yes this is the last flight out again) If this won't work is it possible for the airline to send us to another airport to get to MCO?

Thanks :)

  1. Granted the connection is very tight.  If there is any delay, then you most likely miss the flight to Orlando.  However if you are connecting with the same airline, then I think you might make it.  For example if you fly US Airways from BUF to DCA and also fly US Airways from DCA to MCO, you should make it since all the flights should operate out of the same terminal.  If you are traveling on 2 different airlines, then I would say you may miss your connecting flight.  The airlines sometimes will hold the flight for you if there are a lot of people who are trying to get to the same destination but many times the airlines want to leave on-time because it makes their on-time performance record look good and there may be another aircraft who needs the gate space.

If you do not make the connection, the airline should re-assign you to another flight but usually they do not make you go to another airport.  Also I do not think there will be another flight that leaves for MCO after 7:20 by any airline.

  2. 34 minutes is cutting it pretty close. Don't stop for coffee or food or anything just run to the gate. Also hope there are no issues in Buffalo.

  3. depends on the size of the air port....
