  1. It's probably just a call centre - they will keep phoning until they get through - probably up to a maxijum of 20 times.

As for the calls that eat off your phone, they'll only do that if you follow instructions to press a button or something once you've picked up. They can't do anything if you just answer the call.

  2. It's most probably a foreign call centre trying to sell you something.  Not much you can do apart from ignore it.

Ignore anybody who says that these calls will cost you money - there's no way that simply *receiving* a phone call will cost you money on a UK landline or mobile.

  3. Yea I also get these international calls, usually nobody on the end, occasionally  get a recorded announcement with an American accent,  I just hang up. If you get asked to press a Key like # or * or 9 DON'T, hang up. They can charge you up to £20 even if you hang up immediatly after. If you are not expecting an international call just Ignore it. If you do answer and you think its a bogus call, log the date and time so you can check your bill,  Message to Alex L. There was a scam where an incoming call asked you to press certain keys which ended up you paying a premium rate call, just like the advert for 0800 reverse. charge you £3.50 ~ £4.

  4. someone outside of your home country is tryin to call you.....duh

  5. call your phone company and ask them to look and see where the number is from. They should be able to tell you what the number is and where it came from.
