Landlord entering my apartment.

I have lived in my apartment for 6 months and have nothing but problems. They all came to a head this past weekend. Does anyone know what I can do? I left Saturday afternoon and was gone for about 3 hours. When I came home, I found that the property manager had been in my apartment, unannounced! And now I have two bottles of prescribed medicine missing, things were rearranged on the entertainment center (like snooping) and my A/C unit was open and my air no longer works. Someone messed with it. I called and made a police report. Called the property manager, two days ago and no one has gotten back with me!! I'm being avoided....what can I do??

  1. I suggest you confront your landlord with a baseball bat. then he will listen to you

  2. Depending on your state laws, the landlord does have the right to come into your property...but with knowledge first...this doesn't have to be by phone, it can be just a letter in your mailbox, or a note on your door, so they can easily say that you had prior knowledge.

As far as the police report, what did the police officer say?  I would call him back and follow up with the report...tell him that you have not been able to contact the property manager, and you wish to confront them with him or another official present.  They will understand and try to set something up.

I would try to keep your distance though.  If you need to talk to them, make sure you have a viable witness, otherwise you could be in more of a mess than it's worth.

When you talk to the police, make sure that you let them know that you do feel uncomfortable living on your property until this matter is resolved.

    Best of luck to you.
