The Brest coach is taking positives from Sunday’s defeat at the hands of Olympique de Marseille, and is of the view that Les Phoceens can win the Championelle this season
Stade Brestois 29 came second best against Elie Baup’s side at Stade Francis-le Ble, losing 2-1 at home. However, Les Ty' Zefs put in an eye catching performance on the pitch and coach, Landry Chauvin, is pleased with his players’ attitude and commitment.
While talking to reporters, the 43-year-old stated that it was a cruel result for Brest keeping in mind that his players gave their all on the pitch and they deserved something out of the match. However, against a team like Marseille, margin of error is
always very little and the coach feels that his side’s performance on Sunday will help them in the future.
"I'm disappointed for my players who never gave up, but against a side like OM, any error in terms of concentration is costly.”
Praising their Sunday’s opponents, Chauvin said that Marseille are one of the best teams in the league and the quality of players they have at their disposal is admirable. They showed just why they are one of the contenders for the Ligue 1 crown this season
and Brest should be proud after such an impressive performance against them.
“We have to recognise Marseille's merits. They're a very experienced side with quality individuals.”
The Frenchman added that the defeat is disappointing but he is satisfied with his side’s performance. Brest have improved a lot in last couple of weeks and it’s a great sign for the club.
“Despite the loss, I will retain the fact that my players have progressed, because we were far away from producing performances of this level at the start of the season.”
Talking about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127, the 43-year-old said that Les Phoceens have been performing really well this season and they are capable of winning Championelle in the end.
“Marseille are a strong side and they'll be contenders until they end. There was a difference in quality in certain positions but that's normal because we don't compete in the same sphere as them."
