Ok..here is what I am trying to do...I want to take an ACTUAL picture of my House and Lawn, and then put it in a (free)program and be able to say, pick a picture of a Maple Tree and place it in the front lawn....then with a click of a mouse, say, OK, instead of a regular maple, show me what the lawn would look like with a RED maple, or Weeping Willow Tree... I realize I could probably come up with something using photoshop and a collection of Nice realistic Landscape Icons....but is there an easier way...and does anyone know where i could find JUST a collection of professional landscape pics as well????

  1. You can get free or low cost plants to landscape your yard.  One of the best sources for plants cuttings or seeds from a friend or family member's yard. This requires cutting a piece off of a plant, rooting it (usually in water), then planting it in a suitable spot in your garden. Some online communities, such as Craig's List, have postings for free plants especially during the fall or harvest time. Homeowners offering free plants generally expect you to bring your trowel or shovel and dig up plants in designated areas. For just a little effort, your yard is filled with big, lush plants that may bloom immediately after transplanting. Local universities with horticultural programs may have greenhouses, arboretums or local farms tended by students. These gardens also need pruning and thinning. Seasonally, they sponsor member and guest plant and seed exchange days or annually sell plants in volume discounts. Seasonally many discount stores, including those that sell merchandise for a dollar, offer seed packets (with planting instructions on the back) for as little as $0.10 per pack. The seeds are a great way to cover a large area or create groupings as one packet can generate multiple plants. Near the end of the growing season, plants that have been on display for many weeks at nurseries and home improvement stores may wilt or lose their leaves. These distressed plants are typically marked down 50% or more and moved to the back of the garden center. Look for plants that have new growth as they respond better to rejuvenation. With your garden now growing, it becomes another source of free seeds and cuttings for propagation. You can further enhance your own landscape while having plenty to share or swap with fellow gardeners.
