  1. Blinker, Look, Recheck, Change, Turn Signal Off.

  2. Well you can only really learn from experience, but the way most people do it is

    1) look in the side mirror on whatever lane your gonna turn into

    2) if its clear, put on your turn signal

    3) accelerate a little and start merging into the 2nd lane (not too fast, but not too slow) it should take a few seconds to merge.

    4) turn signal off if it doesn't already

If i were you and you've never done a lane change before, i'd find an empty parking lot and practice there. Or maybe an empty 1 way street that has two lanes on it.

  3. Check your mirrors

    Turn of signal

Glance quickly over shoulder to check blind spot (many people forget to check the blind spot and this is how wrecks happen alot!!)

    change lanes

turn off signal once fully into the lane

  4. Mirror

    Signal

    Manouver

Check your mirrors. If turning left, your main mirror (in the centre) and left wing mirror, main and right if turning/ changing right.

    Use the appropriate indicator

    Steer!

  5. Use a blinker

    look

    speed up a tad

    get over

  6. check your mirrors

use the appriate flashers or handsignals

quickly look over your shoulder to check your blind spot

    move over into other lane

  7. Check your rear view and side view mirrors, shoulder check, signal your intention to make a lane change, shoulder check again and then make your lane change when safe to do so.......don't pull the wheel when you shoulder check. Instead, push the opposite shoulder into your shoulder check and bend your elbow. Make several quick shoulder checks instead of one long one (which will tend to make you steer too much and drift off your path of travel). Watch for a gap and enter it when safe.

Also, many new drivers tend to brake on lane changes. This isn't usually necessary, unless you find traffic slowing down ahead of you. If you are in traffic and come off the gas or apply your brake, all that traffic will catch up with you and you will never be able to make that lane change. Think ahead and make your lane changes early so you don't have to force your way in at the last minute. Keep your eyes moving and make sure you know who is around you at all times.

  8. Answers I reviewed here are mostly incorrect in one major regard........

Signal before checking!     This will warn other drivers you are anticipating a manuveur and they can work with you.

Signal first!    Then match speed to opening as needed,   check mirrors,   TURN HEAD AND CHECK BLIND SPOT,    then move.

  9. check your mirror

    signal

look over your shoulder, blind spot

    then turn.

  10. Mirror

    signal

    manouver
