Langley, a tempting entry on the lineup of Corona Extra Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen on 27th March
Market Rasen is to become home for the Class 4 Corona Extra Novices’ Handicap Hurdle over two miles and three furlongs on Tuesday, 27th March. Participating today in the event are seven runners.
Just with the right credentials as compared to the rest on the lineup is Langley, Trempolino’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Late Night. Langley did not only come out of the previous season successful but also struck his seasonal debut as soon as
he stepped into the 2012 season.
He was the 4/9 favourite winner of the Next Fixture January 17th Handicap Hurdle on 2nd January at Folkestone over two miles and one and a half furlongs.
He was riding with Richard Johnson and took charge of the final seven lengths of the track. Finishing right next to the winner was Just Beware and catching up with the third position after the winner was Swiss Guard.
The most apparent reason for being sent as a favourite in the seasonal debut was Langley’s promising exit from the 2011 season.
On 26th December, Langley won the Oddschecker.Com Handicap Hurdle at Ffos Las over two miles. With Michael Byrne guiding Langley through the track distance, the two had four and a half lengths under their belt when they went across the wire.
Qualifying as the runner up was the 7/2 joint favourite, Rimini, who was being stalked by Wine ‘n Dine, securing the third position behind the winner.
The other joint favourite, Kapdor, came sixth on the field of eight contenders.
However, Langley stumbled just slightly in his second start of the 2012 season. He scored second in the Support The Pride Of Cumbria Handicap Hurdle on 5th January at Sedgefield over two miles and a furlong.
The race was won by Emirate Isle who was adrift from the 13/8 favourite runner up of the race, Langley, by 1 ¾ lengths.
Stationing third behind the winner was Stanley Bridge.
Another entry on the lineup who has posted the seasonal victory is Osgood and can turn out to be challenging for Langley. Yet another one with a victory credited against his name, is Unex Picasso.
The entire lineup has raced during the new season and thus has recent exposure and there are a few who are seeking out for their seasonal victories.
