I took French for 7th and 8th grade. Do you think I should drop it and take Latin, or take both at the same time in high school?

  1. spanish its way easier caz its the most similar language to English

  2. If you can take both fine.  However, as was pointed out, Latin is the root of many languages.  It is far from dead.  If you know Latin, you will do extrordinarly well in English!

  3. I'd take both. Latin can really help you on the SAT's, but French obviously isn't a dead language, so it could be helpful while traveling. good luck!

  4. I would take one or the other. Latin and French both have many benefits.

Latin is a dead language, but there are several languages that have latin roots (including English).

  5. Latin will help you on future tests, but if your really thinking above and beyond Spanish is becoming a highly desirable language to know in the U.S. Tons of jobs are looking for bilingual people preferably Spanish as a first or second lagnuage. Also think about how the language is gonna help you later on in life.

  6. I would continue french as you have already done 2 yrs and wud b a shame to lose your progress, if you really wanna do latin take both, but french will be more useful i would've thought

Unless your really bad at french then i would take latin if you want

  7. continue taking French

  8. I went to high school in a different school district than my middle school, so I had to start over in French 1 when I was a freshman. When I graduated I took the placement test at the university I am going to and only got French 2 (which is what I expected, my French teacher was pretty incompotent). I would suggest taking a modern language, but not necessarily to waste your time on a dead language. If the teacher is known for being really good, then take them; but they aren't that good, it would be best to take class in a different language.

  9. well if you have french down pretty well, i suggest you start taking latin. Latin is the root of the romantic languages, which are spanish, french, portuguese, and italian i believe. If you take latin for maybe two years, learning all thos eother languages will be a breeeze.

If you suck at French, i suggest u also take latin. lol. then when u got latin down, go back to french and master it.

Lol. Just take Latin. It makes life so much easier. The only reason schools still teach Latin is to make those four other languages easier to learn.
