Im new to perth, and looking for a casual job. I was asked to go to an interview tomorrow - about being a language instructor in a translation studio for their clients, there are different kinds of language lessons, and I will teach Mandarin.

I'm wondering generally what's the payment for such casual language instructor in Perth?

And during the interview, when negotiating the payment case, is it comfortable to say my ideal payment straightly or people here like to let you know what they'll pay first then ask your idea? some suggestions, plz?

  1. First of all I'm from Perth.

Its not rude in Perth or the rest of Australia to state what rate you want especially since there is such a skills shortage across the board especially in Perth.

Personally I would just wait until they tell you the rate they will pay, just in case your ideal rate is a lot lower, then you can win both ways.

We are very relaxed over here and don't worry about formalities that much, Good Luck

  2. ok, not having been to Oz, I would let them state so, the payment first, then if it isn't ideal, then say wht u think u should be paid, and go from there, telling them WHY u think u should be paid that amount.
