  1. Lansoprazole and omeprazole are both proton pump inhibitors, which decrease the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Decreasing stomach acid can help ulcers to heal and reflux, or heartburn symptoms to subside.

    Both of them are used in the management of heartburn or symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). They are also used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers, erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from stomach acid), and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
