I'm wondering if anyone can help...i'm trying to watch a dvd on my uncle's laptop but i can't seem to get the drive to open. i've tried going via My Computer and eject but it keeps saying there's a disc in there and i need to save something so i try that and it doesn't work. I'm 99% sure there's no disc in there.

if it counts for anything it's a HP laptop with Windows Vista.

  1. have you tried pressing the button?

if ejecting doesn't work, try restarting the computer and pressing the button while its restarting.

  2. i was going to say actualy use a paper clip

  3. There should be a little pin size hole on the CD drive door put a paper clip in it and it should open manually.

  4. Hi km

On the front of your dvd drive you will find a small pin hole  just poke a pin into the hole and it will open it.

or boot your  computer and   press the  dvd button to open it.

  5. sounds as though it's simply stopped responding, power the laptop off, look on the drive and you'll see a little hole press an unwrapped paper clip in there and the drive will pop open, now just power back on and see if it works, if not you might need to power off again and remove the drive (most of them easily pop out) and try again

  6. Yeah....

    Exactly that was my answer...

Any further question you are welcome to me
