Laptop Problems, Freezing, Blue Screen of Death.?

Okay, I have Dell Inspiron 1150, the OS is Windows XP Service Pack 2. I was watching videos on Youtube the other night, and I moved it up closer so I could see the screen better, and it froze, so I couldnt turn it off from the start menu, and I held the power button. Once I turned it back on, I got a plain black screen, with a blinking white line in the top left corner. I have to continuously turn it on, and off, until it finally comes on. Now once I turn it on, everything goes fine, and then it freezes, or it goes to the blue screen of death. I didnt get to get the technical information, because at the bottom it said Dumping physical memory, and I didnt know what that meant. So If anyone could help, that would be great, because I do not want to spend tons of money getting it fixed!

Addition info:

I have tried booting it up in safe mode, and I still get the blue screen of death.

I have tried the Diagnostics thing, and It freezes after a while.

It doesnt give me time to run my virus protection, then it freezes!

  1. A BSOD (blue screen of death) is where hardware dsent respond or make the crrect connection wwhith the PC.... when u moved closer to watch the video, if u knocked the laptop in anyway hardwware could be damaged, therefore why u get the BSOD... get  pro to take ure laptop part and check whst the h**l has happened.... shudnt cost too much :P

  2. 2 things...either your operating system is corrupt or hardware failure...first try re installing windows, if same thing happen then it's a hardware failure and mostly it's either the hard disk drive or ram...

  3. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  4. When this happened with me, i had to reinstall XP on my computer, because nothing worked. Safe mode didn't work, system recovery didn't work, nothing. So i had to reboot it, erase everything off my hard drive, and reinstall XP off a CD. I had the BSOD at least 7 times, but not any more cause i installed XP Pro. It works way better and haven't had anything wrong with my comp since then.

    Good luck though.
