Question:

Laptop and voice recognition software for a child?

My daughter has quite poor fine motor skills and has been diagnosed with NVLD. It has been recommended that she have voice recognition software. I would also like her to have a laptop so she can compose with more freedom.

Could anyone recommend a sturdy, inexpensive child friendly system?

  1. The school system should provide one for her.  Request an adaptive technology evaluation in writing to her case manager and cc it to the director of special education for your area.  They should have already done this per federal guidelines.  If they say no ask them to put their response in writing - complete with their reasons for denial.
