Laptop computer hard drive?

ok i bought a brand new laptop from dell and on the 13 i turned my computer on and it said operating system not found. so i called dell so they could help me and they said that my warrenty expired on the 12 which is the day before so they told me to that i would have to pay 49 dollars for them to fix it. so i paid and the guy told me to press button which i had alread did that b4 i called him and he told me that my hard drive is gonig to crash or it already crash. is there anything else i can do or does any know how much hard drives are. its a dell insprion 1501 plz help

  1. If you have the recovery discs that came with your computer, all you need to purchase is a hard drive.  Laptop Hard Drives vary from 50 dollars (essential) to 500+ (high performance SSD).  I suggest browsing Newegg if you live in the states as they have really reasonable prices.  

    However, if you do not have the recovery discs, you will have to either call Dell and order the recovery discs (very small fee; I got mine for $4 from HP) or purchase a copy of Windows from a store.  If you do have to purchase a copy of Windows, make sure to buy the OEM version which is available from TigerDirect, NCIX, or Newegg for example.

  3. HD's are cheap, you can probably get a nice 500GB HD off Ebay, new, for like $60. then you just need to use the boot up disk to reinstall Windows on you HD. then you're good to go!
