Laptop connects to wireless network, but cannot go online?

Hello. I am running a wireless network in my house, and everything connects just fine, except for my old laptop. My new laptop, my PSP, my Playstation 3, my friends' laptops, they all connect just fine to the network. My old laptop has had no problems being on the wireless here, until recently. It says it is connected, the only problem is it is getting a bad IP address from the internet. Comcast has done this with my desktop before getting the wireless set up. When I try to open my list of nearby wireless networks, it says "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection". Any ideas? I am running Windows XP Pro on the old laptop.

  1. Hi

It seems that maybe you have run out of IP addresses from the wireless connection. Use one of the pc connected. Go to Start > Run > type cmd > press return or go. dos box appears black screen with white text. >type ipconfig/all > press return . > make a note of the ipaddress. Do the same with the laptop that does not work. See if the info is the same. if it is then you have a problem with antivirus or firewall.

    Hope this helps.
