  1. Get the laptop  cause you can take it with you any where  and with the right wire hook up you can hook it to any screen

  2. it depends. does it have all you want? if it has a CD/DVD burner, if you want one. a DVD player is the minimum. all you really need is a couple of USB ports to add external drives. also look into getting an extra battery if you go for a laptop.

i use a laptop around the house (wifi network) and for travel/vacations, it's real small 10.6 incher. works fine. you need a USB mouse, the touch pads suck. but for most purposes, a laptop is fine. if you want to play games, maybe a desktop where you can add a good video card.

  3. They may be small, but theyre great things to own!!! I got a laptop because i had nowhere to put a full size computer, and i would be lost without it, theyre a fantastic bit of kit!!!!

  4. Lap tops are great. You just charge them and take them anywhere you want to go.

  5. yeah it can just plug and play lol you can get some really nice stuff plus if you go on holiday you can take it with ya so you can keep in touch instead of making expensive phone calls lol

  6. A laptop is just a computer, just like the one you're on right now, just in a smaller package. I recommend you get an LCD Monitor, Desktops are much easier to upgrade, and less expensive.

  7. if all you want to do is use the internet and do some work on there, and not use it to play games/photo editing/video editing, then you should go for a laptop.

1 you will need a modem, most laptops dont come with a built in dial up modem, and just come with a LAN socket, which you will need an external modem for a broadband connection. or if you have a wireless laptop, you can get a wireless modem/router and you have no need for wires!

2 you will be able to play games, and watch movies and everythink you can on a normal desktop computer, only diffrence is that laptops are less powerful, can break easily if you drop them, or spill anything on it, and you cant upgrade any of the parts, except for the RAM or the hard drive.

3 when getting a laptop, make sure that you get one that has a long battery life. and remember, a battery will only last about a year, and slowly looses it's max charge by then. and replacements are quite expensive!

    Edit_

4 most laptops arnt as mobile as you would like, because as soon as you get outside, you cant see the screen, so try to get one with a bright screen!

  8. You mention plugging into the phone line. If you are using Dial up it is the same as horse and buggy in comparison to DSL or Cable.

With any computer you will have to confiqure your internet connection.

Very few if any just plug in and play.

  9. I'm afraid your question isquite incomprehendable.

If you mean to ask whether laptops come with everything enabling themo run, that varies greatly.

Most laptops will come with a version of windows or mac, if necessary you will then have to (usually) purchas microsoft office for word processing, spreadsheets, etc.  as the standard retailers ones arent overly brilliant.

If you already have a computer in your house you will need a router, these are cheap and your laptop goes through that into the phone line.

That is only necessary if you wish to use the inernet.

You will find it a lot easier talking to someone in person at a retailers, as they will be able to explain exactly what it comes with.

Just aanother thought, if you use the internet, you will also require an anti-virus software, PC Worl sell Norton, as they have a deal with them. However it is very memory hungry, and i reccomend a little known prouct called bull guard, unless your current anti virus has a 3-in-1 license, where you can use it on up to 3PC's per household.

    I hope i have helped

  10. Yes a laptop in terms of hardware has everything in it. In terms of software of course you will have to install.

Some laptops may not have every modems but sometimes they offer other features desktops don't have.

    Such as

    Bluetooth conectivity

    Wireless Connectivity

    May not offer

    dialup modem

    cable modem

Try looking at all the details of a laptop before buying it.

The advantage of the laptop of course compared to an LCD is the fact its mobile an you can take it with out. While an LCD is just a screen.

If you are planning on buying an LCD, get one that can also accept tv cable signals. So you can watch tv and use the computer at the same time. These usually cost the same as a normal computer monitor lcd.
