I am curious since my friend told me about this. She told me that electronics stuff there are really expensive. Substantially more expensive than buying it here in the US.

So can anyone tell me, how much would a brand new laptop cost in the Philippines? Let's see I want to buy a Dell. Just a basic brand new laptop. How much can I expect to pay? And please tell me the price in pesos. Thanks

  1. Yes you're friend is right. A bought a compaq c300 in the states for 30,000 pesos while it is for sale here at 40-45,000 (several years ago)

I just came from a shopping mall. asus and acer's tiny laptops are priced at 19 - 23,000 pesos. They look durable but they're just too small for me (less than 12in screen)

or you can settle for a compaq laptop, very stylish and has the latest features like bluetooth, vga cam, etc (40,000++)

They don't sell dell laptops here although it is a good buy especially the latitude series

  2. i just saw a compaq laptop for $399. that's 17500 in pesos, if conversion rate is at php44 to a dollar.

that's really cheap compared to the laptops my brother has been looking at in the phil. and it's not even thanksgiving yet.

  3. Laptop computers are about the same prices there as in USA.  The difference is, models available in Asia are different models than you will find in USA and Canada.  I don't know why.  My wife and I have IBM Thinkpad and Toshiba Satellite both from Philippines.  Both came with Windows XP and both work fine worldwide.  The only problem we've had is being able to find and buy recovery disks for the Toshiba.  If you buy in Philippines just make sure recovery disks come with the system you buy. I suspect the retailers scavenge certain things from boxed new products for separate sale to help their margin.  I.E., new printers don't come with a print cartridge in Philippines like you get in USA at any retailer.

  4. It's about 30,000 to 50,000 pesos it all depends on the brand name. It cost more buying from PI than US.  If I were you it's best you buy it in US it's less expensive.

  5.   The price of a branded laptop computer depends on its specifications.

You can buy a decent entry level laptop computer without software for 30,000 pesos.

       Have a nice day !

  6. Yes, laptops are much cheaper in the US and there are more models to choose from there plus the specs are higher for the same price. I don't see Dell laptops much here. The cheapest ones I see are Acer, Compaq, and Neo (Neo is a locally produced brand). You can get one of the cheaper models from 30,000 to 40,000 pesos.

About missing components the above poster was talking about, though cases like that happen, it's not likely if you buy from a reputable store. There are some laptops that do not come with recovery CDs (recovery is internal). I've bought 5 printers from different stores over the years and all of them came with the obligatory free ink cartridges.
