Question:

Laptop keeps cutting out?

can someone tell me why after about 45 min.my laptop cuts out,i don't mean the power goes it just shuts down so that all i have is the desktop background with no icons at all.i have to click on the user name to get started this is a bit annoying when trying to download anything, i am using a Advent QC 430. thanks in advance Bronco..

  1. From your description it could be a virus or problems with the power settings, however, if the power settings are the fault it should not completely crash the laptop. There are several hardware faulty that would also give the fault that you describe, so you should check for viruses/power saving first. If this does not correct the problem then you may to have your laptop repaired http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk  


  2. Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Power Options

    Check here on the timings for System standby and System Hibernation.  You can disable System standby by selecting "Never" from the drop down list. You can disable System Hibernation by going to the Hibernate tab and unchecking the box.  

  3. Looks ike it is going into standby mode. Check your power settings in the control panel.

  4. would be a virus most like a Trojan with command protocol

  5. does this happen in safe mode? does this happen when logged on as a different user?

    try pressing ctrl+shift+esc to bring up task manager and start a new task of "explorer.exe" to see if that brings it back.
