1. I have a laptop with a mouse pad. If I hover over a link with it and tap the mouse pad it doesn't work. But when I just regularly click it with the left button it does. It used to work before but doesn't now. Here's what my computer looks like. http://www.laptopblog.org/images/dv2000t.jpg

If that link doesn't work, just google HP Pavillion.

  2. Try to reinstall the driver on your mouse.Click in the following order to uninstall:Start,Control Panel,Device manager then find the one that corresponds to your mouse then you can first try to update the driver and see if that fixes it or you can try to uninstall by first unplugging the mouse and then uninstall it.Once it finishes uninstalling I would restart the computer by using the touch pad or the keyboard. Once it restarts your computer will automatically reinstall the mouse driver when you plug it back in. I am assuming you are using windows vista. If you are using XP you might need to use the installation cd the mouse came with or you might not.You can also buy a wireless laptop mouse. I am not sure what you mean by mouse pad. I don't know if you mean a mouse or a touch pad.Either way you can use your keyboard. If for some reason you cant fix it try to do it safe mode. You can access safe mode by pressing f8 when your computer is barely starting. Hope this helps.good luck
