Question:

Laptop refuses to connect with wireless router?

I just bought a brand new Hp laptop with Windows Vista. I've tried everything I could think of to try and connect with my D-link router but it won't connect. On the "Connect to a network" screen I see my wireless router connection and it even has an excellent strength but for some reason my laptop won't connect to the router.

When we try connecting everything else to the router it works fine (my old laptop, my dad's computer, my brother's Wii). Just this new laptop isn't being let into the network.

Any suggestions as to why and how I can fix this? Pleaseeeee help!

  1. you need a new router. i had the same problem

  2. Hi,

this should be easy, all you need to do is set the correct WEP password in your laptop to et connected. this will help you.

  3. Have you tried accessing to your router. Get the laptop mac address. go to the command prompt on your laptop.

    start

then type in command prompt and it will show up and type this command in ipconfig /all

it will show up a lot of stuff but the one you need is physical address and then try it.

when you search for the wireless router on the laptop and try to connect it, it will ask for the wep key for it.

what router are you currently using?
