Laptop screen, mouse, keyboard freeze on start up?

i turn on my Sony vaio and it boots up normally but when it finally opens up on my desktop the mouse and keyboard don't work. both the touch pad and external optical mouse. this isnt the first time i've had problems with the screen. before, it used to be touch and go that it would turn on when i turn on the laptop. the fan would work and everything, but the screen stays black. that's not happening anymore, it's the first thing now. any ideas what's wrong with it?

I would try to reset the BIOS to default settings and starting it in Safe Mode if that doesnt work then make a call to Sony....

If you can get it working on safe mode then go to Run > MsConfig > Startups > Disable all.
