Question:

Laptop speakers sound weird?!?

I just bought a new Acer Aspire 6920 (has True 5.1 surround sound and a Tuba Cinebass booster), but when I listen to music, it sounds like it comes and goes in waves - it's almost like I'm playing with the volume settings. I've tried different settings witin Acer's eAudio Management program, but nothing changes. The quality of the sound itself is great for a laptop, but the constant switch(wave) in volume is a real pain. Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

  1. Have you tested the sound with the laptop plugged in or just running on battery? Any difference?

Have you tested the sound with some headphones? If it sounds ok then maybe it's a hardware failure with the speaker unit - try running just the front speaker.

How does it sounds? As a regular fluctuation between 2 constant levels or jerky and uneven? If it's the second it's a Dolby driver problem - try newer ones.
