Laptop tracking devices?

Does anybody know if there's any tracking device that can be install in my laptop in case it's stolen.

I'm looking for sth not softare based, sth that might help find a laptop even when it's not connected to the internet.

You're best bet is to just make sure it has a BIOS password so that anyone who steals it can't use it (encrypting the hard drive may be worth considering if there'll be stuff on it that you don't want others to get).  Because what you want probably doesn't exist.

The only laptop tracking tools out there are the useless software based ones that won't survive an OS re-install.
