  1. that means it has an std. time for antivirus updates.

  2. first tell us how you shut down your laptop, do you shut it down by clicking shut down or do you just close the lid.

  3. Mine does the same.

It "hibernates", so that it can restart quickly and where you left off,

It doesn't reload everything from the start.

When the battery runs low, it shuts down properly...and then takes ages to fire up.

  4. you got some corrupted/screwed system files or even registry files, If you know what you are doing you can download programs to fix or restore system files or you can do a clean install of xp/vista or watever it is.

make sure you backup your files

  5. That method is a 'forced' shutdown and is not a real good way to close your computer for the day.

It's better to do the 'Start' > Turn off computer > (select option) so that Windows has time to sort & do it's housecleaning for the next startup.

Otherwise, files start getting clipped, and misplaced which can lead to problems when you get down the road.

Enable 'hibernation' (in control panel > power> hibernation) is best; to get this option to show, after 'turn off computer' press & hold the 'shift' key'...that will change the 'standby' icon to 'hibernate'.

  6. It does'nt have any STD!

I will tell you what to do!

Go to the control panel and click on something that says "power." I am in the library and I can't access that from now, but I know there is such thing like that and when you opened it find the tab and the options that says about the turning off. read It!!
