Laptop wont charge. I think it's the power connection port in the laptop???

It won't charge full stop. I used to have a little bit of a problem with it. It would charge but lose connection a lot of the time. Aparently if I take it to be repair they will replace the whole motherboard. But if I buy a spare power port and install it myself apparently I can save myself a fair bob or two. Anyone familiar with this kind of problem?

  1. You shouldn't need a new motherboard for a power jack replacement. I wouldn't recommend a DIY job as laptops can be exceeding difficult to disassemble unless you know what you are doing.

These firms will replace the jack only - check out these links

  2. this is the commonest problem with a variety of makes of laptop. we replace the power connector with a nutted connector http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk

  3. Yes I just had my laptop repaired with the same problem, when they replaced the internal power connection bit and plugged in the power supply apparently smoke came out of the laptop.....because I actually needed a whole new motherboard.

Did the repair people actually tell you that you could replace the port instead or did you just read that online?

  4. My advice, unless you know what your doing, don't make those kinds of repairs. If you're going to go ahead anyway, you may want to check some better tech forums for advice.
