I just got a new laptop today because my camera wouldn't connect to my old pc via usb. But my laptop has firewire. So i connected my video camera (Panasonic PV-GS39) via firewire to my latop and when I went to WMM and clicked capture video it came with an error message saying that a video capture device wasn't connected. Can anybody help?

  1. Panasonics typically need to be connected to AC power with their power adapter; also, the camcorder needs to be in "Play" or VCR" mode.

Are you sure the Firewire port is active? If you are running Vista basic, the driver may not have been included. If you are running XP, you may need to re-install the IEEE1394 driver.
