Question:

Laptops and internet service in France?

Well I live in California and I was wondering if I took my laptop with me to France, would it be possible that I will be able to get a connection from, perhaps, a local cafe? Or even in someone's home if they have internet service? Something like getting service in a Starbucks. I really hope that its possible that I would be able to get connection, but if I dont I'll understand because the whole French internet connection thing might be different than in the US. Anybody has any experiences with an issue like this?

  1. You have plenty of wifi around, some of it free, offered either by the shops like the Mc Donalds or in tourist information centres. You also have internet cafés. Just google Internet café plus the name of the city and you'll come up with plenty of addresses.

If you are staying in a hotel you might ask before booking if they have an internet connection.

There's no difference between French and American connection.

  2. Hi,

All Starbucks and MacDonalds offer free wifi, as do some cafés in Paris.

Lots of people now have wifi ... I can pick up 9 networks from my house alone.

Not sure about outside of Paris though.

  3. You are lucky, McDonalds has just installed free and unlimited wifi in all of their locations in France.  Now all you have to do is to get your favorite McDo meal and use their wifi as long as you like.
