Lara Grangeon and Bradley Ally stun crowd at the Paris Open 2011 – Swimming update
Lara Grangeon and Jana Martinova stunned the crowd with their impressive performances on day two of the Paris Open 2011, held in Paris, France, on June 26, 2011.
In the Women’s 400m Individual Medley meet, Lara Grangeon of France earned first place honours with a winning time of 4 minutes and 45.23 seconds. Jana Martinova of Russia secured the second spot in the corresponding race with a time of 4 minutes and 46.71
seconds, while Beatriz Gomez Cortes of Spain rounded out the top three with a time of 4 minutes and 47.30 seconds.
Bradley Ally of Barbados took home the Men’s 200m IM title with a triumphant time of 2 minutes and 00.65 seconds. Snaring second spot in the respective race was Henrique Rodrigues of Brazil, with a time of 2 minutes and 01.62 seconds. Jan David Schepers
of Germany wound up third with a time of 2 minutes and 02.03 seconds.
In the Women’s 200m breast-stroke meet, Nadja Higl of Serbia clinched first place honours with a time of 2 minutes and 27.17 seconds. Sara El Bekri of Morocco earned second spot on the podium with a time of 2 minutes and 28.19 seconds, while Caroline Ruhnau
of Germany settled third in 2 minutes and 28.92 seconds.
Jeremy Stravius of France snagged the Men’s 200m back-stroke with a victorious time of 1 minute and 58.49 seconds. The win also moved him to top spot in the world rankings.
Poland’s swimmer, Radoslaw Kawecki captured the second spot in the following meet with a time of 1 minute and 59.13 seconds, whereas, Leonardo De Deus of Brazil earned third place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 01.28 seconds.
Earlier, Steffen Deibler of Germany won the Men’s 100m butterfly event with a sterling time of 52.47 seconds, while Sophie Edington of Australia captured the Women’s 100m back-stroke crown with a winning time of 1 minute and 00.78 seconds.
In addition, the Men’s 50m freestyle race was dominated by Brazilian swimmer, Cesar Cielo, with a record time of 21.66 seconds. The win also elevated him to top spot in the world rankings.
