Large Pleco with Poo problem?

our pleco in the office fish tank has about a 4 inch piece of poo hanging from it for about 3 days now. is this common?

Plecos are poo monsters.  I have seen this with a few of mine (I have always had at least one in three different tanks).

This sounds like the pleco is constipated.  Feed it the inside of steamed or boiled green peas.  Does it have some driftwood in the tank that it can chew on?  Is it fed fresh vegetables as well as algae wafers?  A diet of only algae and algae wafers or too much protein without enough wood to chew on can easily cause constipation in plecos.  Pea innards should help the pleco pass whatever is constipating it, but the core problem should be dealt with as well.  A slice of fresh zucchini once a week or so is very good for a pleco and they love it.
