  1. You don't say what part of Ireland you are particularly interested in, or where your roots are.

    Lots of farms are for sale in Ireland on the internet, but you are very unlikely to find thousands of acres in one go.  Most farms are small, anwhere from 10 to100 acres or sometimes more, and to get the size you want, you would need to buy out everybody in the area or settle for disconnected parcels of land scattered all over the place

    perhaps exactly what you are looking for.  5,000 Acres and a period house that looks smashing.  And on the same webpage, another place (different area) with 286 acres.

    What did you put in your search?  I put 'acres for sale Ireland' into a yahoo search, and got the above in a few minutes.  If I spent longer, who knows what I might have found?
