Large black area in the middle of my screen. This black area started about a month ago, 2 inches

This black area started about a month ago, 2 inches wide. It is now a foot wide. If we hit the TV or jiggle it the black will disappear, and sometimes the black area will disappear by itself after the TV has been on for a while.
