Hi i got a really big cut on the bottom of my foot on the heel when i was putting my surfboard in my garage barefoot. Ive been putting neosporin and stuff on the cut and its just not drying up its been about 2 days. I cant really walk on that leg unless its on my toes. I want to go surfing since summer is almost over how do i get this thing to dry up and heel

  1. Paramedic girl told you how to bandage it good but not how to get it to heal. Don't use creams or ointments. The best I ever found was Betadyne (surgeons use it in hospitals when they do surgery on patients) it is expensive but worth the money. You can use iodine, Merthiolate or any thing that will dry when you put it on your cut. Leave the bandage off when you go to bed, air helps it dry up. Peroxide won't help much to heal it. Look in the pharmacy or ask a pharmacist, they know so much about stuff like that. Keep the bandage off as much as possible. There is a liquid band-aid you might ask the pharmacist about. It won't heal it but it may let you do some surfing. But the meds you use need to be liquids, not creams and definitely not ointments.

  2. Do you know what you stepped on? Its likely a good idea to go get a Tetanus shot done at your doctors office. It might also be a good idea to have the cut looked at.

In the meantime, wash it with warm soapy water, tape some gauze onto the cut and for extra padding first place non adhesive gauze and fold it in half over the cut, then an extra layer of any type of gauze over top.
