Large finger nails stop me guitaring?

I have really big and long finger nails even after i cut them which goes over the skin a bit, anybody else have this problem? its a reaal pain when trying to push down hard on a fret cuz it just doesnt work and mutes it. MY guitar teacher says, that u just need practice and theirs not much you can do about it as u cant cut them anymore. anyway just wondering if anybody ese has this problem and how did u solve it

  1. No worries. The guitar playing will kind of grind down any extra fingernail that is a problem anyhow. Eventually you won't have this problem. Also, keep in mind that when you cut your fingernails shorter the nail bed shortens a bit after a day or two, so just make sure to trim them often and they might shorten up for you. Don't fret - LOL I made a funny


  2. Position you finger on the fretboard so than you are only using the flesh part. You need to take the nail back as much as you can also. It will all come good in the end.
