  1. You could have them make the letters with their bodies.  This promoting literacy.  They can group together to make the letter, or just do it themselves.  Also, you can have the letters on big pieces of paper, separate, and then scatter them on the floor.  Then have the children jump from letter to letter.  I have my preschoolers go on an alphabet "field trip", where we go searching around for things that start with the letter "a" for instance.  You can talk about what letters their names start with and play a game with it, "If your name starts with the letter "B" jump up and down.... These hands-on high energy activities make learning letters and literacy fun.

  2. I love all the other ideas from the other participants.  We do the making the letter shapes with our bodies - more of a cooperative game with everyone in the class involved.  Just make the letters really really big!!  Play musical letters with the letters on the floor and when one letter is taken out, they have to share their letter until everyone is on one - or it could be book titles since you're doing reading fun.

Ooo just thought of another one - have each child pick one book that they love - put them down on the floor, and play music. When the music stops they have to put one foot on their favorite book.  Each time take away one book and that person will have to find another favorite book so everyone is sharing and noone is ever "out".  Have fun - hope our ideas have helped.

  3. Thumbs up for the two before me. I am going to steal the favorite book with music idea love it ,and when down to the last book then  that will be the book we read before rest time.

one of the activity I do at my daycare for a large motor skills is....i have this mat puzzle of the ABC and I have the kids toss bean bags onto letters i call out like toss to the letter your name begins with or what makes the sound sssssss or i will take the puzzle pieces apart a spread them out and have them hop to these letters.

Here is a website I got so many other large motor skills i also do with my kids.
