  1. well it really depends on the leke (big fish or small) but for large mouth if you think there are some 5 pounders i would go with 20 pound test line. just incase you hit a big one or a pike or something

    good luch man!

  2. I'm no fresh water fisherman, but the answers that say 12 lb mono seem to make sense to me.

  3. I find that 10 pound usually does a pretty good job.  The best I ever used was a 10 lb. braided line in Cajun color.  Wasn't mine, but a friends and I practically slit open my fingers trying to break it lol.

  4. 12lb. monofilament is best for clear open water with no weeds, rocks, or trees under there. I would use 15lb. Flourocarbon if there is rocks or trees because of its abrasion resistance. Finally if your fishing near lots of rocks or thick weeds, 20lb. monofilament, braided or flourocarbon is your best bet. Get Berkley Spider Wire or Stren if you can those are the best lines I have ever used.

  5. It really depends on the kind of cover your fishing and the type of lure your using. But the best all around line would be 12lb test monofilament... Trilene is my personal favorite brand... If your fishing crankbaits use florocarbon witch sinks to give your lure extra depth... If you have your drag set right you can catch any freshwater fish... Though it might be a good idea to attach a strong leader if your fishing in a lake that have pike or muskie... hope this helps

  6. Berkly makes a very good fishing line. 12lb test is a good all around one to start with.
