Larrikin, the strongest candidate in WF Senate Stakes at Hove
Larrikin just needs to cut loose from the pack in early stages of the WF Senate Stakes, going down at Hove on Thursday, September 13, 2012.
The black dog is in superb shape following a few very good performances lately. After winning an A2 event in mid August, he stepped straight up to the open level, and continued his classy work.
He proved too good for the rivals, and ensured the first rank by four and a half lengths. Not flattered by his outstanding win at the top level, the K. Knight-trained perpetuated his fine work to register another emphatic triumph.
Despite getting crowded at the first bend, the dashing hound attained a handsome lead in the middle stages. He kept himself ahead afterwards, and eventually secured the top position by two and a quarter lengths.
After a couple of straightforward wins, Larrikin could not continue his winning journey, and finished second last time. The son of Premier Fantasy railed quite nicely in the middle hours, and had a very good chance of grabbing fourth consecutive win. But
things did not go to the plan, as he missed the crown by three quarters of a length.
Having made a few very fine trips, Larrikin is in good rhythm at the moment. If he manages to avoid crowding, it will be an easy success for him. Among his opponents are: Mindcraft, Dudleys Viking, Darian Marvel, Fizzypop Supreme and Bank Bailout. The 475
metres race is due to start at 21:56 GMT. It carries a decent cash prize worth £150.
Fizzypop Supreme is one of the firsts to eliminate out of the calculations. Darian Marvel is facing an awkward draw, and will find it hard to do something special against this opposition.
Dudleys Viking has zero margin for error from an uncomfortable draw. Bank Bailout is unlikely to score, as he is not in good form. Mindcraft showed some ability on debut, but this is really tough.
Although there are many powerful hounds in the crew, a clear passage will be enough for Larrikin to get back to the winning ways. We wish the best of luck to all the hounds.
