  1. Different generations but id say James numbers will be better. Id still say Id rather have Bird in his prime.  He killed the 3's, James cant do that.

  2. Id say King James, he is way more athletic than bird ever was and can create for himself and teammates better than anyone

  3. Nope.

  4. Larry Bird was not a good passer. He did rebound well but so does LeBron. Larry had a beetr 3 point shot, LeBron drives and scores more. Larry had terrible hands and was slow LeBron does not. Larry was clutch. It irks me when people say LeBron isnt clutch what do you call the only player besides Magic to record a triple double his first ever playoff game and take his team to the finals against a team that won a ship in the pistons he went on a MJ like rampage.

LeBron will be much greater when its all said and done.

  5. lebron james because the athletic ability since the 1980's has changed tremendously. Look at the way they played back then and know. Big deference.

AND CAUSE LEBRON IS A BETTER OVERALL PLAYER

    AND CAUSE HE IS BLACK!

  6. Lebron will only be considered better if he wins as many titles (3 for Larry Legend)! Despite the fact that Bird had a much better team to play on from the day he was drafted.

Both are great TEAM players and excellent passers -- which is rare for their possession and scoring skill sets.

  7. Larry Bird wins!

  8. Bird can't guard lebron in the paint because lebron would just dunk every time but larry would kill him with his long range jump shot.

  9. I believe Lebron is going to be known as a better player because he has the complete package. Bird will be known as a better shooter. Though Lebron is better, he'll never match up to championships Bird won!

  10. after it is all said and done yes LeBron will probably be the better player

  11. Dude....wow.

  12. Obviously, Anthony never saw Bird play.

There is absolutely no question who the greatest forward of all time was. That is Larry Bird.

Bird led an otherwise ordinary Indiana State team to a perfect 33-0 season and the NCAA championship game, while retiring from college as the 5th all time leading scorer.

He then joined a Celtics squad that had only won 29 games the year prior and led them to the best record in the league (61-21). This is BEFORE McHale & Parish joined the team.

James only managed to lead the Cavs to 35 wins in his first season. Bird had a much greater impact on his team's success than James did.

And you stat-boys can put away all of your charts. If Larry Bird wanted to score points, there wasn't anybody that could stop him. That's not his game. Bird wanted his TEAM involved in the game, and he made it a point to do just that. Parish and McHale are HOFer's BECAUSE of Bird. They made a living off of Bird being double and triple teamed.

Anthony- Bird (& Magic), brought passing back to the NBA when they joined the league. Bird was one of the best passing forwards who ever played. That's a well known fact. For you to say different shows how litttle you know. Maybe you should have passed on answering this question.

If things stay as they are, I don't see Lebron even coming close to Bird in terms of all around greatness. That's not a knock against James - Bird was just that great!

One of the top 3 players of all time!

    _____________

Tyler J ...are you and Anthony related?

James would destroy Bird? Thats a good one! First off, James would probably be guarded by McHale, not Bird. And Bird would take James to school if he tried to guard Bird. Just ask Dennis Rodman, who was a better defender than Lebron.

Lebron led the Cavs to the finals by himself? I could have sworn there was 4 other guys on that team. You watch way too much ESPN.

And BTW ...the Cavs never had to get past a team as good as the 80's Sixers to make the finals.

    _______________

Tyler - Parish was a bust when he joined the Celtics. He became a HOFer by playing alongside Bird. He would NEVER have been that great without Bird.

I don't exactly see Lebron turning Ilgauskas into an All Star. He's more concerned with making the ESPN highlight reels in order to appeal to fans like you. That's why he's so "special".

  13. Is this even close? LEBRON will end up ten times better...

30 ppg, 8 apg, and 8 rpg...tell me could Bird do that at the age of 24?

Also, could Larry lead his team to the Finals at the age of 23? No...

Like I always say...I hate Lebron, but man...this guy is to good to say "he sucks" because you know what? He doesn't...I also wouldn't be suprised if he surpassed MJ.

"Tyler J...Bird could average 30ppg 8ast and 8reb.....but instead for his 2nd NBA season (which for Bird he would have been 25) he went ahead and won his first of 3 NBA championships...."

no he couldn't of...not even close. not at the age of 24...Lebron would DESTROY Bird if they played...not even close. Lebron led his team to the Finals by HIMSELF. Bird could not do that.

"Tyler J.....you forget the objective is not to score tons of points....the objective is winning and I think you have to admit that Bird (who's team won 61 games with a washed up Dave Cowens) in his rookie season was better at winning than was Lebron...Bird was never swept in an NBA Finals....the Cavs were embarrased"

nope...after his rookie year he got Robert Parish...who does Lebron have? not to mention that his coach is horrible.

    "Bird's the better winner...hands down..."

how can you say that? Lebron is only 24 years old lol...he is even CLOSE to finishing his career.

Don't get me wrong, Larry Bird is an amazing player, and the top-10 ever, but I just think that Lebron is the most special player to ever come around.

Larry is a winner. I'll give him that, but he also had all-stars around him. You can say Larry made them better. Which is true, but those guys would have been stars on any team.

And, also. To that idiot who said me and Anthony are related you couldn't be any far off...this is the only account I use.

  14. Lebron is gonna be a better player...he's just not going to win championships like larry did
