Larry Brown wants to make his way back into NBA
The NBA lockout is on the cusp of entering its 5th month. The first month of regular season has been already called off and if an understanding is not reached within few days, whole season might just be cancelled.
Whether the season starts or not remains to be seen, but that does not seem to affect legendary NBA coach Larry Brown.
Brown parted ways with Charlotte Bobcats early last season, however he now wants another shot.
The 71 year old coach has been affiliated with NBA for the last forty three years. He started his career as a player but despite an extraordinary career, he quit as a player after four years. However he did not leave NBA and returned
as a coach.
It wouldn’t be wrong to assume that he is one of the immensely experienced coaches in NBA’s with an experience of thirty seven years. His first assignment was Denver Nuggets in 1974 and since then, he has coached nine different
NBA teams along with many other college teams too.
He gained recognition of the highest level coach after he led Detroit Piston to NBA title in 2005, After that, he was given the charge of heading US national team but unfortunately that ended terribly and he was sacked later. Also
lost his job from Pistons and took over New York Knicks, which was easily the worst team of the league that time.
On April 29, 2008, Brown became the coach of the Charlotte Bobcats and had a successful time with team leading them into playoffs for the first time in the history.
However things did not go very well the following year and unfortunately last December, he was let go by the team management and Tyson Chandler was acquired as the new coach. Since then, he has been away from NBA
However, just recently, he showed his intent to come back to NBA saying he is even willing to come as an assistant coach.
Talking to Boston Herald, he said
“I want to help the people I have evolved with. I will try rewarding the guys who have put in their time with me. It works. Two of my assistants (Lawrence Frank and Tom Thibodeau) have become head coaches. I have no problem with
being an assistant coach, but I really want to get back to coaching again, or even move into management"
It will be interesting to see if he is hired as a coach or an assistant. Larry knows all about the game but for him to be successful again, he needs a team that has mentally fibrous and talented rosters just like that of Pistons
in 2004.
Wherever he ends up, it will be pleasing to see him back in NBA as he has been one loyal servant to the game.
