  1. I like larry holmes

  2. I believe that would be Rocky Marciano.

  3. Larry would jab marciano to death. let's be real here.

  4. I think Larry Holmes would knock him out.

  5. Marciano was tough durable two handed slugger with a good chin. During his hey day he blew through limited opposition and a few good fighters who were past their prime. Marciano did however beat all his mandatory’s and cleaned up the division, he had a similar career to Lennox Lewis who also got a few great fighters on his list but again were past their prime.

The problem I see with Marciano beating a Larry Holmes is that there is about 50 years of sport evolution. Marciano barley broke 190lbs, by today’s standards he would have been a small cruiserweight. Marciano had never fought anybody that could move and box like Holmes, great foot work with maybe one of the greatest jabs the sport has seen.

Rocky's style is tailor made for Holmes, a head first fighter looking for his one shot. The Rocks chin and pride might keep him in the fight for duration, but more likely Holmes jab makes mince meat of the Rocks face. Im sure there would be times when Marciano would gives Holmes some hard minutes but over the haul Holmes is just to big,to fast,to strong, to skilled to lose to a 188lbg 5'11 cruiserweight with limited skills.

Holmes by TKO on cuts and swelling or Unanimous decision.

  6. The intangible when dealing with Marciano is Rocky's incredible will to win, that superior mental attitude that makes the difference between a superbly conditioned athlete and a champion.  It is more than confidence, and even more that the psychological aspects that separate two top level athletes into a winner an a loser.  Marciano had a right hand that was equal to any in history, but his will to win amplified his physical tools immeasurably.

Larry had the superior physical tools, size, reach, foot & hand speed and of course that jab.  On paper it looks like a mismatch, with all the advantages save power weighing heavily on the side of Holmes.

That said, for some reason I think Rocky would out tough Holmes, take a horrible beating walking through that jab to bust up Larry enough with body shots and eventually stop Holmes sometime in the later rounds.  Marciano would simply refuse to lose, and eventually break Holmes's will.

Marciano, behind on all the cards scores a 12th round KO over Holmes.

  7. holmes was very easy to hit at times (leon spinks connected many times with holmes in their brief fight).

the rock, being several steps above leon, as well as being a tremendous puncher, would stop holmes late in the fight,

  8. match drawn score 3-3

  9. Could go either way depend on the round. If they fight today Larry would win because of the 12 round fight. If Jersey Joe Walcott can outbox Rocky for 12 rounds so can Larry. If it is a 15 round then anything can happen. If Rocky score with the big right late then Larry can be knock out.

  10. Larry holmes

  11. Rocky Marciano probably had the greatest stamina and endurance of any fighter that ever stepped inside of the ring and a tremendous will to win and fighting heart of a true champion.  He also had tremendous power in both hands.  A lot of folks say that he was easy to hit but he really was not as easy to hit cleanly.  He crouched very low and came out of that crouch with power shots using every bit of energy in his body.  Rocky would have came into this fight closer to his natural weight of 200 lbs against Holmes too.  Holmes has that great jab and boxing ability and would definetly look to keep Rocky on the outside.  I look at this fight like this, if Spinks could beat Holmes, I know darn well Rocky would have though not easily.  Rocky would be behind on points against Holmes but would not panic as he keeps coming in landing power shots anywhere he could hit Holmes and anywhere he hits you hurts too.  Much like Shavers did when he fought Holmes, Rocky would land a big right hand and send Larry to the canvas in round 11. Larry would make it to his feet, but unlike Shavers Rocky would finish the job.  He would send Larry back down again.  Again Larry would rise to his feet.  The referee after checking out the eyes of a very wobbly Holmes would stop the fight and declare Marciano the winner.  Good question sir.

  12. Larry Holmes would box Rocky & hit & not get hit.   Even if Holmes got hit he had a great chin.  He would KO Rocky in about 8 rounds.

  13. larry Homes would win this one easily all these other guys say rocky marciano because he is white.
