Larry Merchant Mr Grench?

IT always seems like Larry is a Mr Grench after each fight. Not only laying it on the loser, but also trying to steal the glory away from the winner. Not to mention his stupid questions!

At the end of the Pavlik fight he stood there and listed all these reasons why pavlik isnt as good as boxers from Larry's time in the stone age. Blah, blah, blah.

If larry fought he would never be a good sport about anything. Taylor and Pavlik show each other mutual respect, why cant this old f**t keep his mouth shut?

Larry and his ''Merchism's'' are legendary. He was always getting into it with Foreman and then Jones. I have met him a couple of times including last weekends Pavlik - Taylor fight and he is drunk most of the time. I mentioned to him how ''popular'' he is on this forum and he looked at me with them bushy eyebrows and grunted. My other meeting with him was lengendary 11 years ago in Ceasars Tahoe at the post fight Lewis - Akiwanade fight where he was drunk and rambled to me like an insane person who missed a dose of their meds. I have always wished someone would pull out a norelco razor during his postfight interview and shave his eyebrows. My cousin asked him did his hair and eyebrows have their own zipcode. And just think we have the talking goatee Max '' I know everything u know nothing'' Kellerman waiting in the wings. One day we will miss Larry........NOT!

Actually Larry lined up Emanuel Stewart and told him Pavlik was winning by out jabbing and walking Taylor down when Emanuel started playing up the combinations Taylor would flurry with.  Merchant may not have much positive to say about...well about anyone really, Larry is one crotchety old bat who snarls at just about everyone.  But he is accurate to a fault, and truthful, something that sniveling little backstabbing weasels like Lampley and his illegitimate spawn Kellerman have no concept of.  Yeah, Larry is a prick, but he is an honorable prick, and that is why we may not like him, but we have to respect him.  He is the best at what he does.

if he is drunk all the time then he must have one h**l of a strong bladder cause not even i can hold it that long when i drink alcohol! he should pack pepper spray just in case those fighters try anything on him

I remember back when Merchant was getting started he really liked to bust the chops of the fighters.  Believe it or not he has relaxed a bit since 2004.   Old age I suppose.

Merchant does like to stir the pot.  He used to give BHop h**l after he'd win.  He does have a self-depricating sense of humor about his Grench-like interviews.  Merchant has been interviewed several times and each time I have seen him interviewed he is completely different than when he has a mic.  

That said, I think retirement would shut him up.  I would like to see Lampley and letterman retire as well.  Holyfield should join them.... Perhaps that white haired geezer on Shobox would retire as well.  What's his name Al Bernstein?  There ya go... Wouldn't boxing be a better sport if those dinosaurs all called it a day?
