Lars Bak wins the 12th stage of the Giro d’ Italia 2012
Lars Ytting Bak of Team Lotto Belisol opened his 2012 winning account in style after the cyclist filled his bag with the stage 12 victory at the race.
He completed the 157 kilometre chase to Sestri Levante in a fastest time of 3 hours, 58 minutes and 55 seconds and received the honours.
Sandy Casar of Team FDJ-Big Mat finished 11 seconds behind and secured the second position while Andrey Amador Bakkazakova of Team Movistar finishing at the third spot.
Jan Bakelants of Team BMC, Jackson Rodriguez of Team Androni Giocattoli, Amets Txurruka of Team Euskaltel-Euskadi occupied the fourth, the fifth and the sixth positions in the respective order.
The Belgian team is having a good season and has filled its bag with numerous victories in the season.
The Dane’s performance during the 12th stage of the Italian Grand Tour has helped the team with one of the biggest victory of the season.
The 32-year-old joined started his professional pursuit with Team Fakta in 2002 and stayed with the side by the end of 2003 season.
He also represented Team BankGiroLoterij (2004), Team CSC (2005-09), Team HTC-Columbia (2010-11) and joined Team Lotto-Belisol for the 2012 season.
The cyclist secured the opening stage of the Giro in the past season and has continued his dominance at the Italian Grand Tour for the coming season.
Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver of Team Katusha is now leading the stage 12 classifications with a total lead of 17 seconds over Ryder Hesjedal of Team Garmin-Barracuda.
Sandy Casar of Team FDJ-BigMat is further 9 seconds behind at the third spot with Paolo Tiralongo of Team Astana holding the fourth spot.
Ivan Santaromita of Team BMC, Roman Kreuziger of Team Astana, Benat Intxausti Elorriaga of Team Movistar and Ivan Basso of Team Liquigas-Cannondale achieved the fifth, the sixth, the seventh and the eights positions in the respective order.
Mark Cavendish of Team Sky is leading the point’s classifications with a total number of 77 points to his credit.
Matthew Harley Goss of Team Orica GreenEdge is holding the second position with 65 points to his credit.
Joaquim Rodriguez of Team Katusha, Domenico Pozzovivo of Team Colnago-CSF Inox and Martijn Keizer of Team Vacansoleil-DCM is holding the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Team Movistar is leading the team’s classifications with Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Team BMC, Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep and Team Astana is holding the next four positions in the respective order.
