the Factory Squad, but it is always a good feeling when a club of the stature of Bayern follows you.
The midfielder went on to sign a long-term deal with his current side and extended his stay until 2017. He stressed that a player would never make a long-term commitment if he is not sure about the future of the side.
“I called a few times in the summer with Bayern but Bayer blocked the topic very quickly. Thus, the issue for me was off the table. A request from Bayern makes you proud. But I had just extended my contract in Leverkusen in 2017
and you do not know if it would be the right club for you,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the German admitted that he dreams to win the league some time in his career. The player added that there is still room for improvement in the remaining course of the season and is confident of a better second-half.
"A title is a dream of every player. In our team, it's really what's inside. So far we have not got over the final hurdle. But it is a must for the club and we must get there soon,” he concluded.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently second on the Bundesliga standings table behind Bayern Munich.
