The Schalke shot stopper has insisted that he wants to take his chances and is willing to cement his place in the first team.

Lars Unnerstall is eager to put an impressive display in Schalke’s upcoming Bundesliga game against Greuther Furth on Saturday, September 15, at the Trolli Arena. The player has been given a chance to prove his worth after Hildebrand
was ruled out for the next two games after the German international suffered a knee injury in training.
The 22-year-old insisted that he is feeling good after knowing that he has a great chance to make the spot between the sticks his. The player will have two games against the likes of Greuther Furth and Olympiacos to prove his mettle
to the manager.
“Of course I feel better when I know I'm playing at the weekend, but I have to keep proving myself and keep pushing hard to make sure I stay in goal,” the youngster was quoted as saying in an interview.

“At least I can wind down a little during the time off and then come back raring to go. When I do keep goal I don't want to vacate the position again. I want to give my all during the games and in training to make sure I stay between
the posts. Whether I do or not is up to the coach,” he concluded.
Lars Unnerstall has thus far made 21 league appearances for Schalke since being promoted from the club’s youth ranks.
