  1. I do not have a criminal record, but I know the answer you are looking for.  Nevada law sets out the circumstances under which you can be licensed as a nurse or CNA following a conviction.  The requirements appear here:

    http://www.nursingboard.state.nv.us/crim...

    Basically, it works like this:

    1.  If you have had a conviction (either a misdemeanor or a felony), you are required to disclose that fact to the licensing board.

    2.  If you have had only a "minor event" (or up to three minor events) and they occurred at least 7 years ago, then you can get cleared by the licensing board's staff, with no hearing or other procedure.

    3.  If you have had more recent offenses (yours are only 4 years back), OR you have had certain  types of convictions (including any drug offense), OR if you have a felony (which you don't, fortunately), you have to go to a hearing before the Board "to present information on your rehabilitation and reasons you believe the Board should accept your application."

Bottom line:  you can apply, but you need to show you are rehabilitated at a hearing.  So, be prepared to show that you have your life on track, get written statements from any employers, your minister, etc., and go for it.

I wish you well.  Changing your life around is hard, but it is the best thing you have ever done.  Good luck!!
