  1. Hi I'm a cabbie in Vegas.  Here to try and help. 1) Top of the world at the stratosphere.  If your interest is more in the view then the food.  Top of the world is your place. 2) Not Pao but Tao at the Venetian is Americanized Chinese food but frankly in my opinion I think that they are nothing more than an overpriced PF Changs. Wynn buffet is an over priced Rio Buffet with not as many choices in food :)....  Burger and Mandalay.  Well In and out on Tropicana.  Better burgers and cheaper.  I've actually seen people come to Vegas just to eat them.

If you want a good environment and great food here are my suggestions. 1) Artem Russian food on flamingo and Decatur great food and great dancing. They kind of combine a restaurant and club into one. 2) Rio has 2 buffets both are the best hands down enough said. 3)OPAH! Greek food located on Sahara and rainbow also has live dancing food is to die for. 4) Batista's hole in the wall behind bills saloon (former Barbary coast) spectacular Italian. Finally Pepermills located on the strip next to the Riviera. Great restaurant for hangovers.  their breakfast is pretty good too :).....

    Good Luck have fun.

  2. Well I am going to recomend a good resturant for you. It is called "Llama Ranch" They have great food for a great price. When I visited N.Y. I loved that place. They have salted llama, llama kabobs, llama bowls, llama meat, llama soup, fried llama salted and dipped in ranch and seasoning, grounded up llama, llama shakes, llama drinks, and llama desserts!!

It is sooo good and I think you will really enjoy it. It is for a great price too! They also butcher there llamas right there i the resturant so yo know the llama meat is fresh. You also get to pick the llama that you want to eat. Please look it up and enjoy it, it is sooo goood for a greatt buy!!!

    Llama Ranch in New York

  3. Il Fornaio at NYNY (which is Italian), Fulton Street fish at NYNY. (you both could eat for $15 ask for the family of four special) and they have the best clam chowder in a bread bowl I have ever had and it is $4!  Only $4!

I also loved Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill and they have a very cool Margaritaville in Vegas also.

I would also like to try Emeril's or Simon, both of which are at the MGM Grand.

  4. Before you eat at the Stratosphere, read some of the reviews on TripAdvisor.com, Chowhound.com, Zagat.com, etc. and you might change your mind.  The ONLY critic-based site (not individual reviews like the 3 mentioned) that recommends it is cheapovegas and it is not even a cheap restaurant--go figure.

Having a cocktail in their lounge might be a cheaper way to snag the best view in Vegas.  It is also better for lunch but I like the night view best.

Pao might be Tau which is expensive but only fairly good.  Perhaps he is thinking of the night club?

Wynn buffet is rated the best Vegas buffet by VegasMadeEasy.com just slightly ahead of Bellagio.  I personally think that those 2 are clearly better than the others in Vegas unless you will be here on a Sunday.  For Sunday buffets, the Sterling Brunch in the Bally's Steakhouse is fantastic and the best period.

Burger Bar is actually not bad.  It is kind of a Fuddrucker's type of place but with better ingredients to customize the burger.  If you like to eat at celebrity chef places but not spend a whole lot of money, you could say that you've eaten at a Hubert Keller place.  I really liked the Buffalo fries but the Kobe is not worth the upgrade here.  Bradley Ogden, yes, but not here.

  5. If money's not an issue, then there are quite a few d**n good places.  at the Venetian there's Bouchon (a thomas keller place.)  Caesar's has Bradley Ogden.  Mandalay bay has Mix (an alain ducasse place) which is somewhere I want to go badly.  Most the good restaurants are on the strip.  Just look at the casinos' websites.

  6. Maggiano's italian restaurant at the fashion show mall is REALLY good.it's priced per person (last time i was there ...6 months ago around  $40 ).what's nice is the location is walking distance to great hotels so you can go sightseeing afterwards.you can go to their website and see what their menu looks like but honestly the food was good, service was excellent, and a great place to take a small group to eat in.

  7. Try Emerils Fish house in mGm- good fish

The Grand Lux Cafe in Venetian- upscale Cheesecake Factory

    Raos in Ceasars

Bobby Flays Mesa Grill in Ceasars

    Spago in Ceasears

As far as buffets- I like paris

Mon Ami Gabi is good also in Paris

Best of luck to you and win a couple hands for me :-D

  8. If price is the most important consideration, the Top of the World is not a good choice.  As someone who has actually eaten there, I can tell you the food is great, the service is second to none and the ambiance and view are the absolute best in Vegas.  But it does not come cheap.  Figure at least $250 per couple.  That said, if you want to go to at least one all out amazing, romantic and over the top dining experience that is it.

None of the top shelf restaurants are cheap.  Expect to pay that kind of price at any of the four star restaurants and make a reservation ahead of time.

That said, there are good deals in buffets.  Breakfast at Paris is not to be missed.  The Bellagio is the best due to some really exotic fare and Planet Hollywood is excellent as well.  The Luxor is pretty good as is Wynn. The Wynn is also a beautiful room.

If you like a fantastic pastrami sandwich, Cantor's Deli in Treasure Island cannot be beat.  Like an good time in an eccectic environment?  Kahunnaville in Treasure Island is good and reasonable and fun.  The jazzy tropical drinks can add up quick, though.  It is directly accross from the Mystere Theater so if you are taking in the show anyway it is an excellent choice.

EDIT- My wife just reminded me to mention Delmonico's in the Venetian.  An Emeril restaurant.  Excellent service and excellent food.  Attached is a link including menu samples.

    Bon Appetite!

  9. Aureole at Mandalay Bay is certainly different.  It's a gourmet restaurant that you can order ala carte or you can get a set menu (which is the most fun) and you can even have the chef decide for you.  The food is really different too.  The wine cellar is not a cellar at all but a wine tower.  Girls on a rope go up the tower to collect your wine of choice.  The most entertaining thing is to watch those girls fetch the wine.

  10. i know the rio buffet is really good and the best in town.

and on Sahara and Rainbow there's an awsoeme restraunt called hash house a go go. Great diffrent type of style, farmish food. Plus it's Vegas there are so many diverse types of food.

  11. Crave is a buffet and super yummy you wont even feel like your at a buffet, at the mirage. Pampas brazilian grill, you can go to any half price ticket locations a buy a ticket to there it is amazing you just pay your ticket and they keep bringing the food. at planet hollywood.Bunkhouse saloon, super cheap, has a great cowboy rock theme, its burgers tacos sandwiches salads you name it but not in a casino but in a amazing atmosphere. Located on fremont and eleventh. Something typical, PF changs in the ceasers palace. i hope that helped

  12. I recommend Claim Jumpers, both the food and atmosphere are excellent. It has in it's possession a classical western theme that they pull off quite well.

  13. MY HUSBAND IS A CHEF AND HE PREFERS EMERIL'S IN LAS VEGAS.  IF PRICE IS NO OBJECT, ASK THE CONCIERGE AT YOU HOTEL FOR A GOOD, LOCAL PLACE.  SOMEWHERE THAT THEY MIGHT GO WHEN THEY ARE NOT WORKING.

MANY OF THE CASINOS HAVE BUFFETS AND CHARGE A MINIMAL AMOUNT FOR MOSTLY GREAT BUFFETS, BUT BEWARE, THEY GET CROWDED QUICKLY AT MEAL TIME.

ASK A LOCAL, THEY WILL USUALLY STEER YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!

    BON APPETITE!
