Has anybody had laser eye surgery? Was it successful? Was it painful? What company did you get it done with? Thanks in advance xx

  1. Had it done (in Canada) by Dr. Gimbel (he pioneered the surgery). It took my vision a year and a half to equalize. The first month was awful. I didn't react like most people do. I had intralase and was very myopic, although considered moderate by their standards. To my understanding, my eyes 'overreacted and overcorrected' somewhat and I ended up slightly farsighted, but don't need lenses. Apparently this happens rarely. Side effects have all but gone now and I would do it all over again as the freedom is amazing. The procedure itself was fascinating and not painful as they freeze your eyes but some people might find it uncomfortable and unsettling. Yes, you do smell the burning tissue which was not fun but it's over so fast anyway.

  2. my mom had it done

she said it was really quick

i don't know the company she went with tho sorry

    have someone come with you

she said that they flash a light on your eye and tell you look at something and do it to the other eye and thats it

    good luck

  3. My husband had it done last year and he says it was the best thing he has ever done, yes it was expensive but well worth it.  He went to Optical Express he took a week off work but he was able to see well enough the next day to drive and the optician says he now has better than 20/20 vision.

He says it wasn't painful at all and would recommend anyone to do it.

Obviously it isn't the same for everyone but he can only go by his own experience.

  4. Considered it but then read about other peoples experiences and read about the downside and decided not to. The deciding factor for me was a nurse who said she always put a little vaseline in patients nostrils so they couldn't smell the laser burning.

  5. Yep I had it done by optical express last Feb. Its not painful as they put drops in your eye. It is uncomfortable though and a bit scary. It was very successful and have never worn glasses since so I'm very pleased - best thing I ever done.
